Geobags are geotextile or geocomposite bags filled with sands and are used for shore protection or constructing breakwaters and jetties in sea. Geobags allow water to seep through it and holds the sands in place, thereby retaining the volume of the bags.
The possibility of filling the bags at the construction site is one of the significant merits of this system which eliminates the need to carry heavy material from long distance.
